Whimsical was a Shoegaze / Dream Pop band from Northwest Indiana from '99-'05. They released one demo cd, one full length album called Setting Suns are Semi-Circles on Seraph Records, and one single. The band was 90% done with recording their 2nd full length album in the beginning of '05 when the band ended. Whimsical mostly played in Chicago and shared the stage with Kill Hannah and Mira at such venues as The Metro and Elbo Room.
The never released 2nd album, Sleep to Dream, will finally be released on Saint Marie Records in 2016. More to come...
You can hear their first SMR released track here.

Thee Koukouvaya join SMR as the new project of Brian of Elika (also an SMR artist) but that is where the similarity ends. Thee Koukouvaya approach post-rock inflected techno, ambient, and IDM with an eye for depth and structure, assembling crystalline lattices of meticulously programmed drum patterns, frenetically sequenced analog synthesizer rhythms, and luxuriant glacial drones.
Join us in welcoming Thee Koukouvaya to Saint Marie and look for their debut LP up for pre-order very soon.
